I have lived in Rutherford County for 4 years and have watched the county grow dramatically just in the time I have been here. With the birth of my daughter in December, I decided that it was time for me to step up to protect the future for families in this county from unrestricted development and being driven out by cost or a major shift in the feel of the community. Growth in Rutherford County is unavoidable, but I believe that we can all work together to make sure that growth is done in the interest of the people that live here. I support carefully planning development to make sure that the proper infrastructure exists to support it. I want to see more walkable areas and protected green spaces in our communities. I plan to champion affordability programs like providing breakfast and lunch to the children in our schools by using existing unbudgeted funds and enrolling in federal programs that other systems like the Murfreesboro City Schools are already using. I want to raise pay and provide mental healthcare for our county first responders to promote quality public servants and improve community safety. I believe that all of this can be accomplished with resources already available to the county. While representing you and working on these policies, I intend to keep an open feedback loop with the community. We all live in Rutherford County, and it is vital that we all work together to secure a better future for everyone.
In your own words, describe the responsibilities of the office you are seeking.
It is the job of the county commissioners to work towards a better future for the county while maintaining a constant feedback loop with the people they represent. The county commission must plan and fund good public services like schools and first responders, and make sure that these services actually address the needs of the community. Commissioners must ensure that the county is affordable to live in by promoting programs to reduce cost, control development, and provide basic essentials where possible. The county commissioners must work on these programs with input from their constituents for the betterment of the county in the short term and in the long term.
What are your priorities for this office?
I plan to prioritize developmental planning, affordability issues, and the quality of public services. I intend to work closely with all parts of the county government to develop long-term, sustainable programs to address these issues. This collaboration will be key in the success of the county.
Describe your qualifications for this office.
I’ve spent much of my life studying history and government while building a career focused on planning, budgeting, and collaboration. I earned a degree in History from Lipscomb University and worked on educational programs at The Hermitage, where I gained insight into how past decisions shape our communities today. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked in healthcare technology, including supporting systems at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. During that time, I contributed to COVID response efforts and worked on initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs. I’ve led cross-functional teams and helped manage multi-million dollar projects, gaining experience in responsible budgeting and collaboration. I’ve also worked with healthcare leaders to advocate for policies that ensure access to care. Locally, I’ve helped lead medical mission efforts at Central Magnet School serving our community. These experiences have prepared me to listen, bring people together, and make thoughtful decisions for Rutherford County.
