Tell us about your campaign.
My name is Myra Simons and I’m again running for the TN Republican Party State Executive Committee representing TN' s 13th Senatorial District. I have been married to Rick Simons for 32 years and we have two grown boys, Garrett and Grayson. We have lived in Rutherford County for over 15 years and attend Rutherford County Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN. I am a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I have worked in the pro-life arena for many years as Director of Development for TN Right to Life. Additionally, I served as Chairman of the Board for the Yes on 1 Campaign that was successful in amending the TN State Constitution to give the legislative right on the abortion issue back to TN State Legislature. After the success of Amendment 1 in 2014, I worked as Grassroots Director for Congressman Mark Green in Tennessee's 7th Congressional District for five years. I now continue my work with the TN State Executive Committee for which I am seeking re-election in August 2026.
In your own words, describe the responsibilities of the office you are seeking.
The TN Republican State Executive Committee is the governing body for the TN Republican Party. We set bylaws by which the state party operates including rules candidates must follow in order to qualify to run as a Republican on a TN ballot. Additionally, we set and choose what organizations are permitted to be recognized as actual Republican associated groups.
What are your priorities for this office?
I want to continue my work with the TN SEC as it is very important to have true conservatives on this governing board to uphold the patriotic principles that are so badly needed. With my background on key issues, I feel very qualified to seek re-election. The SEC seeks to have true bona-fide candidates on the ballots of TN that being one of the main reasons to sit on the SEC board. I would desire to see the TN primaries closed in order to have true conservative Republicans run and win elections in TN. The SEC is one such body that can influence our legislature to encourage this to happen.
Describe your qualifications for this office.
I have worked in several different areas from corporate positions to not-for profit groups. I care about people and want to make the best decisions that would impact day to day life in our country as much as I can in this position.
