My name is Matt Ferry and I am the Democratic candidate for the Tennessee House of Representatives in District 48 in 2026. I am running for this seat because I am appalled at the outrageous corruption and grift that occurs within our state government. It has been 16 years since a Republican Supermajority received total control over the Tennessee General Assembly. During that time, the Republicans have doubled the state's budget, but the average Tennessean has not received double the benefits. Instead, our tax dollars have gone to tax breaks for the obscenely wealthy.

What are your priorities for this office?
Matt's Top Five Priorities for Rutherford County: 1. Force the state government to fully fund it's entire public education system including giving substantial pay increases to our teachers. 2.I will work with state lawmakers to save our fractured rural healthcare system by accepting Medicaid Expansion. 3. Working with TDEC, we need to regulate the reckless practices at the Middle Point Landfill including limiting the number of outside counties that can dump there. 4. The state needs to pass a bill that limits the amount of housing a corporation can own. I will also focus on policies that make homeownership affordable for the average Tennessean. 5. I will advocate for rail and other transportation solutions that don't solely revolve around automobiles.
