Catherine Barcel "Barcy" Whitson has enjoyed a rich life - building relationships with all types of people. After a successful career in the insurance industry, she has spent the last 20 years volunteering her time as a life coach, pastor and mentor, loving people from the womb to the tomb! When she was just 13 years old, her best friend's Mama said: "Barcy, I can see you being a Senator's wife." To that, Barcy replied: "I ain't gonna be no Senator's wife...I'm gonna be the Senator!" So! Now is the time she has felt called to step up and run for Tennessee's US Senate Seat! She has encouraged the younger generation to run for an office - local or nationally - but they are busy growing families, careers and wealth. Since they can't run, Barcy is running for them! She is not focused on the past or what is wrong with the current state of the state or nation. Instead, she is focused on What Tennesseans Want aka W.T.W.

What are your priorities for this office?

Economic Growth Lowering costs, creating high-paying jobs, and supporting local small business/entrepreneurs. Promoting green energy and creativity in order to steward our world better for us and future generations. Also, promoting safe water and excellent waste management and recycling/repurposing for a resilient environment. Healthcare Maximize cooperation across all of the entities involved in delivering state of the art healthcare for all Tennesseans. Work to reduce prescription drug costs and protect and improve rural hospitals. Utilize the existing Health Care Act to help folks who do not have group health benefits. Promote and protect programs for our veterans, senior citizens and those in need. Education & Wellbeing Boosting funding for public schools and expanding vocational training programs as well as promoting private and home schooling initiatives. Finding ways to pay off student debt so that those who had loans can build wealth. Fair Housing Affordable housing for all Tennesseans and help for the 10,000 currently unhoused via partnering with churches, businesses, etc. to create safe tiny house communities. Utilize best practice models for partnering faith based entities with public assistance entities. Dependent Care Promote better childcare, eldercare and other challenged entities assistance where all people have the opportunity to live their best life now and always. Transportation Promote mass transit options to allow people choices like our global neighbors in Europe and other countries utilize. Election Protection Safe voting throughout our state via the continuation of the excellent job the election folks do in Nashville as well as all election commission workers throughout our state. Let us promote making every person's vote count! Promote/Protect our Farms Promote farm to table accessibility and the reduction of reliance on over processed food. Promote green spaces and join with area businesses to clean up factory byproducts for a healthier environment. Provision for our Peace Keepers Peace for all people via integrous police organizations. Use trauma informed training to optimize interventions with mentally challenged ones and other situations that arise in every community. New Wannabe Tennesseans Build networks for helping refugees and immigrants who need assistance for rebuilding their lives right here in our wonderful state. In other words, be good neighbors! Science and Technology Promote innovation and technology investment across Tennessee. Support research institutions and create pathways for tech jobs in every region of the state. Generational Optimization Create spaces for generations to share life so that the older folks can pass on wisdom to younger folks and younger folks share brilliance with older folks.

Catherine Barcel "Barcy" Whitson has lived most of her life in Tennessee. As a Pastor, Prayer Minister, Life Coach, and Mentor for over 20 years, Barcy has walked alongside many Tennesseans through their most challenging moments. She knows what it means to listen, to serve, and to lead with compassion. Barcy is running as an Independent as she has always voted for whom she felt best represents all citizens regardless of party, background or zip code. As such, she is committed to representing every Tennessean. Her focus is W.T.W. - WHAT TENNESSEANS WANT! Her platform is built on the belief that Tennessee's greatest resource is its people. From the mountains of East Tennessee to the Mississippi Delta, from Chattanooga's innovation economy to the farms of Middle Tennessee — Barcy will fight for all of it.
