House of Representatives - 4th District

Joshua James

Republican

Tell us about your campaign.

At no other time in our nation's history has our citizenry been more divided and separated from our elected leaders. Those elected to represent us are locked behind closed doors, funded by PACs, surrounded by lobbyists, and only speak to us in sound bites on glossy mailers written and poll tested by highly paid political consultants. It is this disconnect between the voters and our elected leaders that is driving my desire to run. From my first day as an elected official in Rutherford County, I have made an unwavering commitment to ensure that everyone in my district has a seat at the table, has an opportunity to give their input before I vote, and in turn deserves a clear explanation as to the WHY of every vote I make. I promise to take my no-nonsense business mentality to Washington. Our government at every level is spending too much money and over-taxing the citizens. Our exploding national debt is potentially one of the greatest threats our nation has ever faced. We need leaders who will, and can, vote NO when it is necessary. I am a staunch fiscal conservative. I have and will continue to prioritize protecting small business owners and the creation of local jobs, and to fight against the excessive taxation and regulation that hold back our economic potential. I am a veteran and an active Army reservist, and I understand that our military members deserve leadership, accountability, and a return to their core mission — being the best trained, equipped, and effective force in the world. It would be my honor to represent the people of Tennessee's 4th District in Washington. Thank you for your support as I ask for your vote.

Joshua James is a husband and father of two who, aside from time in the Army, has spent his entire life in Middle Tennessee. He is a Christian and a 4th-generation member of Highland Heights Church of Christ, with deep roots in the community he hopes to represent. Joshua holds an Associate's degree from Motlow State, a Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University, and a technical certification from Total Tech. His wife of nearly 20 years is a local school teacher, and their two children are in middle and high school. By day, Joshua works as a package center supervisor at UPS. Joshua's first military service was as an Infantryman and later a Tanker. When COVID hit, he returned to service with the Army Reserves as a Non-Commissioned Officer, reclassing as an Engineer. In September 2021, he was sworn in as the duly elected County Commissioner for Rutherford County's 9th District, where he has served his neighbors with transparency and a no-nonsense work ethic.
