Tell us about your campaign.

I am seeking re-election to the Murfreesboro City Council. I have served for four years. I retired from the military in 2017 and still felt a calling to serve others. Hence, I ran for council in 2022 and seek re-election in 2026. I am proud of the work we have accomplished in my 4 years on council. Crime was rising but has now decreased the past 3 years due to increasing pay/benefits for police and fire resulting in increased recruiting and retention of personnel. More police are on the streets now. The MFD is fully staffed. We have invested $140 Million dollars in the past 3 years on 35 road projects. We’ve voted to incorporate adaptive signal technology to improve commute times and we’ve begun the construction of Veterans Park. I have advocated for smart and balanced growth saying yes to projects that made sense and no to projects that would overcrowd our schools or stretch our police/fire and other city services beyond their capacity and call radius. IF re-elected I want to focus the next four years on: 1) Continuing to improve our roads; 2) Seek/Recruit/Find a corporate entity to come to Murfreesboro to improve our wages in our community; 3) Continue to keep police/fire/teacher pay/benefits competitive; 4) Work with the county on ending the practice of taking shared pennies away from the city that has cost MCS over $20 million dollars in 4 years and now our schools are under-funded per pupil as compared to other counties & municipalities; 5) Secure land and begun construction of a West Side “Sports Com” type center for our fast growing community on the West Side.

In your own words, describe the responsibilities of the office you are seeking.

The City Council is the final approved of projects from staff and city government. We approve the funding, re-zoning, disbursement and execution of all projects regarding roads, sewer, parks, development and re-zoning.

What are your priorities for this office?

1) Continue to improve our roads; 2) Seek/Recruit a Corporate Entity working with County, Chamber of Commerce and IDB; 3) Keep police, fire, teacher pay benefits competitive; 4) End the practice of shared pennies being taken from the city by the county; 5) Secure land & begin construction of a Sports Com facility on the West Side of Murfreesboro; 6) Secure land/seek partners for a City/County Civic Coliseum/Conference Center.

Describe your qualifications for this office.

I am 59 and will turn 60 in October. I served in the Military for 28 years with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. I lead a Batallion of 300 plus soldiers and was responsible for their health, welfare, morale and safety along with millions of dollars of equipment. I have worked as a civilian in healthcare for 35 years in sales, management, training and marketing. I have the heart of a servant and will make the best decisions for ALL of Murfreesboro. I continue to work in healthcare and I am not aligned with any entity in the building or development industry.
